The Texas Department of Public Safety on Friday released aerial footage of a Bexar County car chase and shootout that left one man dead and a trooper injured.
The incident began around 3 p.m. Feb. 18 on FM 78 in Guadalupe County when a trooper pulled over 33-year-old Ernest Montelongo of San Antonio for an unspecified traffic violation.

Montelongo allegedly tried to give the trooper a false name, but the trooper caught the ruse and tried to arrest him. According to DPS spokesman Lt. Deon Cockrell, a scuffle between Montelongo and the trooper ensued, and Montelongo fled in his black Chrysler 300.
The aerial footage shows Montelongo speeding down Interstate 10 into Bexar County. Towards the end of the chase, Montelongo’s front left tire gave out, slowing him down.
