New footage released hours after a federal agent killed a legal, Minnesota citizen shows a chaotic scene between protesters and federal agents moments before the grisly shooting transpired.
The video circulating on X shows a new angle of the incident that left 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti dead with multiple gunshot wounds. Moments before DHS agent shot dead Pretti, three apparent anti-ICE protesters begin blowing whistles to demonstrate their opposition to the agency’s deportation operation in the city.
Border Patrol officials seen in the video begin pushing down the demonstrators onto the sidewalk while another violently pepper sprays Pretti in the face at point-blank range.
Soon at least seven officers surround the ICU nurse. One is on his back and another who appears to have a canister in his hand strikes a blow to the Pretti’s chest. Several officers try to bring the man’s arms behind his back as he appears to resist. As they pull his arms, his face is briefly visible on camera. The officer with the cannister strikes the man near his head several times.
A shot rings out, but with officers surrounding the man, it’s not clear from where the shot came. Multiple officers back off of the man after the shot.
Nearly 10 more gunshots follow as Pretti is seen lying on the ground unresponsive. A woman recording the video screams “what did you just do?” as a federal officer seems to shoo her away from the scene.
