Airline Pilots Over Dubai Capture Surreal Scene of Iranian Ballistic Missile Launches

Several news sources and social media posts report that airline pilots and passengers flying over Dubai captured footage of Iranian ballistic missile launches

. These missiles were reportedly launched by Iran targeting Israel. The event occurred around 4 a.m. local time. Some reports indicate that air traffic control (ATC) did not clear the skies before the missile launches, posing a risk to civilian aircraft.

The footage shows ballistic missiles streaking across the night sky. While ballistic missiles reach a high altitude, the ascent and descent phases can still pose risks to aircraft. Additionally, there’s a risk of debris from malfunctioning missiles or their boosters, and the possibility of being caught in the crossfire as air defense systems activate.

Several airlines have diverted flights from the airspace between Iran and Israel to avoid potential dangers. The recent surge in hostilities between Iran and Israel, including this missile exchange, is part of a larger conflict in the region.
